Nursery Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: PINEVIEW DAY NURSERY We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children and a strong commitment to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment. As a Nursery Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily activities of the nursery, ensuring that each child receives the care and attention they need to thrive. Candidates will need to be willing to enrol onto Child Care Learning and Development course to work towards their level 2. This will be provided via an apprenticeship programme with training provider People 1st at no cost to the candidate. Employees will be paid for their time studying.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, and social development.
- Provide high-quality childcare by ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in your care.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to foster a positive nursery environment.
- Support children during playtime, meals, and other daily routines, encouraging independence and self-confidence.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the nursery space, ensuring all equipment is safe and suitable for use.
- Observe and record children's progress, sharing insights with senior staff as needed.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive team atmosphere that prioritises children's needs.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children and adults.
- Demonstrated ability to manage groups of children while maintaining a calm and positive demeanour.
- Leadership qualities that inspire confidence in children and colleagues alike.
- Be able to support children's learning and development through engaging activities.
- Relevant qualifications in childcare or early years education would be an advantage but are not mandatory.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education is highly desirable.
