Social Supermarket Worker


Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: FORWARD SOUTH PARTNERSHIP To support day to day running of the social supermarket by welcoming members to their appointments, ensuring that users have access to affordable food, household and hygiene items treating users in a respected and dignified way. The role involves assisting with stock management, supporting / signposting to community initiatives and helping users with any issues.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming and supporting members to the social supermarket, completing referrals & assessing wraparound support needs.
  • Receiving and organizing stock, monitoring stock levels, rotating food stock and keeping stock templates for ordering.
  • Managing payments from members including cash and card payments.
  • Assisting in ensuring social supermarket area is kept clean & tidy.
  • Follow Health and Safety Procedures including food hygiene regulations, handling and storing food correctly and safeguarding protocols.
  • Ensuring appropriate records are kept in compliance with GDPR & funding requirements, and clear communication is maintained at all times between project staff.
  • Work in partnership with FSP Staff as required and appropriate.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good customer service skills with friendly manner.
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse and inclusion team.
  • Organisation and time management skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in customer facing environment such as retail or community / voluntary sector.
  • Awareness of food hygiene, handling and storing food.
