Customer Service Trainee

This is a new opportunity with JP Corry Builders Merchants where you’ll be based in one of our branches experiencing first-hand the principle of great customer service. As you go, you’ll get to grips with our business, learning about our customers and our products. In the varied role, you will spend time in various departments in the branch and get involved with merchandising stock as it comes in from suppliers. This opportunity is a great way to suss out what you like doing in the branch whether its being outdoors loading customers, in the warehouse, behind the counter serving customers or on the shop floor merchandising. No two days will be the same!
Responsibilities
- Interacting with customers and answering queries.
- Carrying out stock counts.
- Placing customer orders.
- Sales.
- Learn about the products we sell, the importance of teamwork, health & safety and good housekeeping.
- You will be shadowing colleagues dealing with a number of our customers and with time, be able to offer advice and support.
- You will learn how to provide great service and will get a chance to work as part of a team.
- You will develop skills in communication, both face to face and over the phone.
- After 6 months you can expect to know the basics of merchanting, the importance of health & safety, customer service and our computer system for taking customer orders and payment.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Happy to work together with colleagues and encourage others to do the same.
- Able to make quick decisions and adapt to new ways of working.
- Understandably it is also important that you are interested in or have a passion for customer service and sales. You need to specifically like to learn skills in this area to aid your personal development.
Desirable Skills
- Experience of using a forklift truck is desirable but not essential.
- Willing to learn and present new ideas.
