Community Engagement and Admin Assistant


Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: THE CHURCHES TRUST To provide administrative and practical support across The Churches Trust’s community programmes including Youth Work, Interfaith initiatives and Community Education. The post-holder will assist staff with planning, communications and delivery of activities, helping ensure programmes run smoothly and reach a wide range of participants. This role provides a great opportunity to gain experience in community engagement, event coordination and office administration within a community organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support: emails, phone calls, filing, data entry and correspondence.
  • Assist with organising and promoting community programmes, youth events and interfaith activities.
  • Help prepare materials and resources for programme sessions.
  • Maintain attendance and feedback records.
  • Assist with creating and scheduling social media posts and newsletters.
  • Collect and compile evaluation data for monitoring and reporting.
  • Welcome participants and provide friendly, professional assistance during events.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to planning and communications across departments.
  • Ensure all activities reflect The Churches Trust’s values of inclusion, respect and community cohesion.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Approachable manner with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic organisational and administrative skills, able to keep simple records, file documents and manage emails or messages.
  • IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook or similar.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and follow guidance from supervisors.
  • Positive attitude towards community work and engaging with people from different backgrounds.
  • Respectful, inclusive approach in line with The Churches Trust’s values.
  • Willingness to occasionally assist at evening or weekend community events (with notice).

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in an office, community or customer service environment.
  • Experience assisting with events, workshops or youth/community activities.
  • Experience handling cash or recording small transactions.
  • Interest in youth work, community relations or interfaith engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative once trained.

The Employer is: THE CHURCHES TRUST JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information - Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. - Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. - Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
