Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: SPECIALISTERNE NI The Neurodiversity Support Worker will support our team of Neurodiversity Consultants as they support participants, who are neurodivergent young people or adults, to feel more confident, experience reduced attitudinal and communication barriers, and to progress in relation to having a career. The Neurodiversity Support Worker will help participants feel more ready to meet employers, education, and training providers, and to make a positive start to a new career.
Responsibilities
- Representing Specialisterne NI at events, for example, at career fairs.
- Responding to enquiries and arranging individual meetings.
- Support of individual meetings with participants, where participants are supported to develop strategies to achieve goals.
- Support of interest groups and workshops, for example, taking part in employment related workshops, as well as board games and other social activities.
- Undertaking weekly activities, along with the project teams, to support participants to achieve project aims, such as carrying out job searches relevant to participant’s interests.
- Maintaining records in relation to all project activity, in line with Specialisterne NI quality standards and GDPR regulations.
- Ongoing learning related to neurodiversity.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities Policy.
- Conduct all activities with confidentiality and in accordance with the requirements of Data Protection Legislation.
- Undertake any other duties as required, that are within the competence of the post holder and conducive to the effective delivery of the role.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 3 A levels (C grade or higher) or equivalent.
- GCSE Maths and English (C Grade or higher) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated interest in one or more of the following: Autism, ADHD, Tourette’s Syndrome, Dyslexia.
- Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
- Knowledge of MS office programs, including Word, Excel, Email etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organisational and planning ability.
- Willingness to undertake training as & when required.
Desirable Skills
- Study in subjects of relevance to the role.
- Previous experience in and knowledge of one or more of the following: Autism, ADHD, Tourette’s Syndrome, Dyslexia.
- Experience in supporting people to achieve the changes they want.
- Experience in working according to quality standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of one or more of the following: Autism, ADHD, Tourette’s Syndrome, Dyslexia.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and a commitment to developing new solutions for neurodivergent people.
- Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
