THE EMPLOYER IS: TIR NA NOG CLG The Education and Gaelic Games Development Officer will develop and coordinate the implementation of a sports development programme for the promotion of Gaelic football at the local primary schools whilst maintaining and developing historic links from feeder primary schools to the Tír na nÓg club. The Education and Gaelic Games Development Officer will be responsible for the development of Gaelic football across Tír na nÓg’s feeder primary schools and will actively work with students, school staff, club coaches and other stakeholders to encourage participation at the local club.

Responsibilities

  • To promote Gaelic football in Tír na nÓg feeder primary schools and to ensure maximum participation from the student population from entry level through to competition.
  • To promote Tír na nÓg as the local GAA club and encourage students to register and participate.
  • To promote Gaelic football activities across all feeder primary schools in the Parish with a focus primarily on St John the Baptist Primary School.
  • To coordinate the delivery and expansion of the revived GAA primary school programme.
  • To coach students towards targeted and achievable skills and rewarding every child for their efforts.
  • To build and sustain a strong working relationship with other staff members within feeder primary schools and adhere to the school governance, policies and operating procedures.
  • To work with the club secretary to track registration at club against attendance at school football. (Registration system for school football will ask for GDPR data sharing permission).

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Experience working with GAA, LGFA, Camogie or similar sporting body in a professional or voluntary capacity.
  • Proven ability to build rapport and strong working relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to build and foster a strong culture within Tír na nÓg and feeder primary schools, creating a strong sense of community built around GAA values amongst the student cohort.
  • Leadership qualities and teamwork skills.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Gaelic Games, coaching schemes and initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • At least two years experience in coaching.
  • Level 1 Coaching Certificate.
  • Access NI clearance to be renewed every three years.
  • Safeguarding Certificate to be renewed every three years.
