Traffic Planning Trainee
Job description

Responsibilities
- Support the daily planning and scheduling of vehicles across the UK and Ireland using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
- Assist with driver dispatch and debriefing - issuing keys, manifests, and equipment, and ensuring paperwork, tachograph downloads, and vehicle details are complete.
- Monitor driver hours, ensuring agency drivers have sufficient legal driving time remaining and tachograph cards are downloaded within the required timeframe.
- Update operational systems with accurate driver, unit, and trailer information to support real-time tracking and compliance.
- Liaise with drivers and traffic operators to relay job details, delivery changes, and operational instructions.
- Maintain organised filing of driver documents, including SDRs, defect sheets, fuel logs, and trailer check records.
- Manage the ordering and distribution of stationery, PPE, and driver materials (handbooks, memos, manifests).
- Assist in preparing and emailing reports, such as trailer checks, fuel usage, and other operational data.
- Handle day-to-day office duties, including managing incoming and outgoing mail.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties to support the smooth running of the Traffic Office while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Basic IT literacy and willingness to learn industry systems.
- Strong numerical and organisational ability.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work in a team and follow structured processes.
Desirable Skills
- Interest in transport, planning, or supply chain work.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, driving, or transport admin environment (not essential).
