Butchers Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: O'KANE MEATS LTD O'Kane Meats is hiring a Butcher’s Assistant to help with cleaning, packaging, and labelling of products. The role includes preparing burgers, sausages, and meatballs while maintaining high hygiene standards. All training will be provided in house. This is a great opportunity learn valuable skills in the butchery trade.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and packaging various meats (Burgers, sausages, meatballs etc).
- Trim, slice, grind, and portion different types of meat accurately and efficiently according to customer or shop specifications.
- Food Safety and Hygiene Knowledge, proper sanitation, storage, and handling procedures to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination.
- Interact politely and helpfully with customers, taking orders, answering questions about products, and provide recommendations.
- Safely using and maintaining knives, saws, grinders, and weighing scales to ensure proper function and safety.
- Monitoring inventory, rotating stock, and correctly labelling products with weights, prices, and expiry dates.

Essential Skills
- Time management skills.
- Ability to work in a team.
Desirable Skills
- Basic food hygiene.
- Knowledge of meat cuts.
