Job description

The post holder will work within the Neurology Movement Disorder Service to develop a specialist Movement Disorder Nursing Service within the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust Area. The post holder will provide a resource of specialist nursing knowledge and skills in the care and management of those affected by movement disorder conditions, their families and professionals working with them. The post holder will carry a caseload, undertake comprehensive assessments with differential diagnoses and may prescribe care and treatment for patients with movement disorders or appropriately refers to members of the multidisciplinary team within the hospital and community setting. The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary teams and other agencies and will be involved in developing and implementing effective approaches to meet the needs of this client group and their families. The post-holder will be expected to use clinical judgment and decision making in relation to the management of patients with movement disorders. Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Be a Registered Nurse on Part 1 (Adult) of the NMC live register.
• Evidence of post-registration training and development specific to Neurology/ Movement Disorder/ Parkinson’s Disease.
