THE EMPLOYER IS: ARTS CARE The Publicity and Marketing Assistant will support the promotion of Arts Care’s programmes and social value work. Working closely with an external marketing consultant and the staff team, the post holder will help keep social channels and the website up to date, create content at events, assist with simple campaign planning, and provide day-to-day PR support. This is an entry-level role, suitable for someone at the start of their career who is keen to learn. Training and guidance will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Keep Arts Care’s social media channels active: draft posts, schedule content, respond to basic enquiries, and maintain a simple content calendar.
  • Update the website using the organisation’s CMS: upload news items, edit pages, add images and ensure brand consistency.
  • Attend events to capture photos, short videos and quotes, then publish timely updates across platforms.
  • Support planning and delivery of marketing campaigns: contribute ideas, prepare simple briefs, assist with timelines and coordination.
  • Assist with PR activity: help draft press notes, compile basic media lists, send approved materials and log media coverage.
  • Prepare simple graphics or visuals using templates and brand assets.
  • Collect basic performance data from social platforms and the website and compile short activity reports.
  • Ensure all content meets accessibility basics and is clear, accurate and audience appropriate.
  • Handle image consents and follow data protection and safeguarding procedures when gathering and storing content.
  • Carry out routine admin to support the marketing function, including file naming, asset management and meeting notes.
  • Liaise with staff, artists and partners to gather information, stories and materials for marketing and PR.
  • Work in line with Arts Care’s values, policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Clear written and verbal communication with good attention to detail.
  • Basic familiarity with major social media platforms and how to post, schedule and engage.
  • Ability to update web pages using a content management system, or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Confidence capturing simple photos and short video clips on a smartphone.
  • Basic layout and formatting skills using tools such as Canva or similar template-based software.
  • Good organisation and time management, able to meet deadlines and follow a plan.
  • Willingness to attend events, sometimes outside standard office hours with reasonable notice.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, accessibility fundamentals for digital content.
  • Awareness of data protection, consent and safe handling of media, with training provided.
  • Able to work well with colleagues, artists and external partners, and to take feedback on board.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience updating WordPress or a similar CMS.
  • Basic video editing on mobile or desktop and simple image editing.
  • Use of email marketing tools such as Mailchimp or similar.
  • Understanding of analytics basics, for example Meta Insights or Google Analytics.
  • Experience drafting short news posts, captions or simple press materials.
  • Knowledge of the Northern Ireland arts and health landscape or interest in the sector.
  • Familiarity with accessibility guidance for web and social content creation.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting small campaigns or project launches.
  • Confidence speaking with local media, community partners or stakeholders.
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to transport, if required for certain events.

The Employer is: ARTS CARE JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information - Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. - Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. - Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
