Production Operative


Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: HAMILTON ERSKINE LTD As a Production Operative, you will work as part of a production team with a focus on quality and health & safety, ensuring all customers receive exceptional and timely service. This role will involve operating machines, for which full training will be given.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble glass components and related products in line with technical drawings and specifications.
  • Carry out quality checks to ensure all assembled products meet required standards, reporting any defects or inconsistencies promptly.
  • Accurately locate, pick, and move raw materials (e.g., glass sheets, fittings, packaging) using manual handling equipment or pallet trucks.
  • Maintain correct stock levels, ensuring all materials are clearly labelled and stored safely to prevent damage or contamination.
  • Use barcoding or stock-control systems to record stock movements and support efficient inventory management.
  • Prepare glass products for dispatch using correct packing methods and protective materials to minimise damage in transit.
  • Build and seal pallets or crates, label items accurately for delivery, and verify that packed products match dispatch documentation.
  • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures when handling and packing fragile materials.
  • Use production related IT systems to record production data, log stock movements, and update job sheets electronically.
  • Operate factory software, spreadsheets, and barcode scanners to ensure accurate, traceable production records.
  • Support the smooth flow of information by maintaining up-to-date digital documentation.

Essential Skills

  • Good communication skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in a production role would be beneficial to your application.
