Coffee Shop Assistant


Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: CITY LIFE PROJECTS The successful applicant will work in our kitchen and coffee shop at the CityLife Centre as a Chef, Barista & Deli counter staff. Learning to cook breakfast options (fry and omelettes etc) and create various lunch options (daily specials, chicken curry, roast dinners etc). The successful applicant will undertake a range of training courses, including Health and Safety in the Workplace and Food Hygiene Awareness. They will work within a structured team environment, developing new skills and gaining valuable experience in a busy kitchen setting.

Responsibilities

  • Kitchen prep: Switching on all appliances and preparing the kitchen for the schedule ahead.
  • Menu creation: Creating new ideas for the dinner menu and daily specials.
  • Cooking breakfast, lunch, daily specials and desserts.
  • Deli counter and barista duties such as making specialty coffees and sandwiches.
  • Cleaning the kitchen at the end of service.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Enjoy cooking.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Work well within a team environment.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Ability to follow directions from the head chef.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in a kitchen environment is desirable.
  • Experience working within a team.
  • Experience working in a coffee shop or deli is desirable.
  • Well organised, punctual and quick thinking.
