THE EMPLOYER IS: OXFAM IRELAND, CREGAGH ROAD Working under the direction of the shop management team, the Sales Assistant will have the opportunity to learn key skills within the retail environment. Over time, you will assist with the effective running of the store, by carrying out assigned daily tasks, including sales, merchandising, window displays and the daily maintenance of the store ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Work with the shop manager to maximise profitability by actively encouraging customers to visit the store and purchase merchandise.
• Work towards achieving targets and hitting monthly budgets.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Carry out visual merchandising.
• Maintain inventory control.
• Complete paperwork and banking procedures accurately.
• Work in a safe way, observing all health and safety guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Some experience in a customer facing environment.
• Experience in cash handling.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience working as part of a team and ability to work on own initiative.
• Please note the role includes lifting hessian bags, boxes, books and other heavy items.

Desirable Skills

• Visual merchandising.
• Fashion retail experience.
