Theatre Support Technician

THE EMPLOYER IS: NORTHWEST CULTURAL PARTNERSHIP As a Theatre Support Technician you will be working with a small team providing high quality performances to the local audiences. You will be managing a daily schedule that support the running of the Newgate Theatre to include performance dates, rehearsals and classes. You will need to understand our booking systems, theatre capabilities and the maximum audience limitations and layout requirements. This position will require flexibility around hours to support the Theatre's needs and around performance schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Theatre manager in organising daily work schedules for the Theatre and creative workspace management. This will include room rentals, class bookings and set-up plans.
  • Manage performance ticket sales via online WIX system. Report back on trends and selling matters.
  • Operate the sound and vision systems in use within the Black Box Theatre, to a standard to satisfy both professional and amateur productions.
  • Perform sound checks and audio-visual support pre-show and support performance rehearsals.
  • Understand and setup lighting systems for wide variety of performances from solo music events, bands performances and theatre events.
  • Understand the weekly schedule to set up theatre seating plans, classroom layouts and dance classes.
  • Provide technical support in the recording studio for podcasts, interviews and music recordings.
  • Provide performance liaison as required to understand individual bands/performers needs and requirements.
  • Manage variance and disruption during performances on sound and light.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Practical knowledge of audio, video, lighting, and staging equipment is essential.
  • Effective communication skills are needed to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders from performers and production managers to general venue staff and the public.
  • The role often requires handling heavy equipment, working at height, and working unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends.
