Job description
To provide a client centred Tier 3 addiction service in the community setting to adults experiencing alcohol and/or drug dependency. The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team offering structured treatment interventions to individuals experiencing complex alcohol and drug dependency problems in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT). Responsibilities
- The post holder has responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of care.
- The post holder will promote good mental health nursing practices, including initiating and coordinating comprehensive assessments for service users, in line with the substance use strategy and trust policy.
- He/she will always act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- The post holder will provide advice and support to clients and professionals in contact with the NHSCT Addiction Services.
- The post holder will manage a caseload of clients accessing specialist treatment for alcohol and/or drug dependency problems.
- The post holder will be required to mentor nursing and non-nursing staff as appropriate.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Pre-registration Nurse (Mental Health) on Part 1 of the NMC Register or Registered Mental Health Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC with less than six months experience.
- Please note that although registration with the NMC is required in order to take up a Band 5 post, applications are welcome from those due to complete registration with the NMC by 31 December 2025.
- Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
- This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
