Activities Support Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: NEWRY STREET UNITE The Activities Support Worker will provide assistance to the Community Development Worker, Activities Coordinator and After School Leader in planning, preparing and running a wide range of activities, workshops and events for all ages in Newry Street Unite Community Centre.
Responsibilities
- Support the existing Newry Street Unite staff and volunteers in delivering a range of activities and events for the local community.
- Work with children, young people and adults.
- Support the staff team with the day to day running and maintenance of a busy Community Centre.
- Work with the NSU staff team to prepare, plan, set up and deliver activities/events for all ages.
- Provide administrative support.
- Basic food preparation.
- On occasion, opening/closing for private groups who have hired the Community Centre.
- Any other tasks consistent with the role.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Candidates must be flexible in their approach to working hours to support the centre’s schedule.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Basic IT skills, such as using email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to attend training vital to the role as well as meetings.
- Relate well to people of all ages.
- Friendly, open-minded, caring and helpful.
Desirable Skills
- Child Protection training.
- Basic Food Hygiene.
- First aid skills.
- Music/art/craft skills/health education awareness training.
- Ability to contribute to session planning.
- Familiarity with record keeping for funding returns.
- Candidates must be reliable and punctual.
