About Mama NIMI Mama NIMI is a leading Nigerian and African restaurant in Belfast, offering authentic West African cuisine and a welcoming cultural dining experience. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Restaurant Assistant to support daily service operations across both front-of-house and kitchen areas. Role Purpose The Restaurant Assistant will help ensure smooth restaurant operations, excellent customer service, and high standards of cleanliness and food presentation. This is an ideal role for someone friendly, hardworking, and eager to learn about African cuisine and hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service & Front of House Support. Greet customers warmly and assist with seating, menu information, and general enquiries. Serve food and drinks efficiently, ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Maintain cleanliness of service stations.
• Kitchen & Food Preparation Support. Assist kitchen team with basic food preparation, plating, and portioning. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces. Support chefs in delivering high standards of food hygiene.
• Operational Support. Assist with stock rotation, restocking shelves, and maintaining storage areas. Follow all health & safety, food hygiene, and cleaning procedures. Support the Restaurant Manager and Directors as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• No formal qualifications required full training will be provided.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow instructions.

Desirable Skills

• Interest in African/Nigerian cuisine and culture.
• Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, or kitchen work (not essential).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.

Further Information

Salary & Terms Annual Pay: £25,000 per year (based on 37.5 hours per week). Hours: Part-time or full-time options available (flexible). Contract: Permanent (after successful probation).
