Motor Technician and Ambulance Care Attendant (ACA)

THE EMPLOYER IS: SALUS MEDICAL LTD. This dual-role position combines vehicle maintenance responsibilities with non-emergency patient transport support. The successful candidate will assist with the maintenance, safety checks, and upkeep of Salus Medical Ltd’s ambulance fleet while also supporting the care and safe transport of patients as an Ambulance Care Attendant (ACA). This role offers hands-on experience in both vehicle engineering and pre-hospital care.

Responsibilities

  • Motor Technician - Assist with routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs of ambulances and company vehicles.
  • Motor Technician - Carry out daily vehicle checks, including tyres, lights, fluids, cleanliness, and equipment.
  • Motor Technician - Support fault finding, diagnostics, and minor mechanical repairs under supervision.
  • Motor Technician - Ensure all vehicles meet road safety, compliance, and cleanliness standards.
  • Motor Technician - Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and servicing schedules.
  • Motor Technician - Assist with stock control for vehicle parts and workshop equipment.
  • ACA - Assist in the safe transfer, movement, and care of patients during non-emergency transport.
  • ACA - Support the senior crew member with patient handling, communication, and comfort.
  • ACA - Ensure vehicles are cleaned, restocked, and prepared for operational duties.
  • ACA - Complete all required documentation, including patient records and journey logs.
  • ACA - Follow all company protocols relating to infection control, safeguarding, and patient confidentiality.
  • ACA - Represent Salus Medical Ltd professionally while providing compassionate and respectful care.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Good practical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance or willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
  • Have level of fitness that enables you to assist with patient handling tasks.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in mechanics, vehicle repair, or workshop environments.
  • Knowledge of basic tools, diagnostics, or vehicle systems.
  • Level 3 First Response in Emergency Care Certificate.
  • Reliable, punctual, and organised.
