Job description

The post holder will be required to work to a job plan that includes Nurse-Led Clinical sessions providing Level 2 and 3 (BASHH) uncomplicated and symptomatic sexual health screening for male and female patients. The post holder will be required to provide treatment for select conditions under Patient Group Directions and Independent prescribing (on completion of V300). The post holder will be required to support medical staff and the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in their clinical sessions for GUM, HIV and Erectile Dysfunction. The post holder will be required to participate in Triage of patients accessing the GUM Service. In order to meet the overall mission of the organisation the post holder will: Be a highly specialist resource providing clinical expertise in care, advice and support within the specialist area of GUM, HIV and Erectile Dysfunction. Work within the multi-disciplinary team in order to ensure a seamless, coordinated approach to person-centred care, across the clinical pathway, and timely onward referral to other professionals and agencies as appropriate. Lead and participate in the provision of expert advice in developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures and protocols which meet national, regional and local requirements. The post-holder will work closely with other members of the GUM, Sexual & Reproductive Health, Infectious Diseases, Inclusion Health, universities, primary and secondary care to deliver evidence based care to patients. Collaborate with key members of the primary and secondary care team in the provision of education, advice and support in relation to GUM / HIV and Erectile Dysfunction.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist nursing care and treatments, education and counselling to patients accessing the GUM service.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Applicants must be registered on Part I of the NMC Register (Adult Nursing).
• Willingness to complete STIF / NHIVNA Advanced competencies.

Desirable Skills

• Hold a recognised recordable Independent Prescribing Qualification (V300)
• Evidence of successful completion of STIF advanced competencies.
• Hold a Specialist Practice qualification related to the area of Sexual Health.
