THE EMPLOYER IS: GREATER SHANTALLOW COMMINUTY ARTS We’re seeking a creative and community-minded Marketing and Social Media Assistant to help tell the story of GSCA and share the impact of our work across digital platforms. This role is ideal for someone passionate about the arts, culture, and community engagement, with strong digital skills and a flair for creative communication. You’ll help us reach and inspire audiences by managing our social media presence, supporting content creation, and assisting in the delivery of marketing campaigns that highlight our programmes, events, and community initiatives. The Marketing and Social Media Assistant will need to be flexible, with an adaptable attitude (since events and programmes may operate outside standard hours), with a passion for arts, creativity, and community development. The role may require working evenings or weekends (for events, festivals, workshops).

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of GSCA’s social media and digital marketing strategies.
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging content (posts, stories, videos, and graphics) across Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other platforms.
  • Celebrate the stories of our participants, artists, and community through creative, people-focused content.
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to messages, and engage with our online community in a friendly and inclusive tone.
  • Assist in the production and distribution of newsletters and email marketing campaigns.
  • Help maintain and update the GSCA website with upcoming events, news, and project highlights.
  • Conduct research to identify trends, audiences, and opportunities within the arts and community sectors.
  • Track and report on social media performance using analytics tools to inform future campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the artistic and programme teams to promote events, workshops, and exhibitions.
  • Support the promotion of community events, performances, and outreach initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
  • Experience with social media platforms and digital content creation.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a creative and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently when required, and as part of a small team.

Desirable Skills

  • Basic knowledge of design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is desirable.
  • Good organisational skills; ability to multitask, prioritise, handle several Marketing and Social Media requirements during busy periods.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Passion for the arts, culture, and community development.

The Employer is: GREATER SHANTALLOW COMMINUTY ARTS JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information -Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. -Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. -Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
