Portable Appliance Testing Operative


Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: LIGHTON TESTING LTD. We’re looking for a qualified PAT Tester to carry out electrical safety checks on portable appliances across client sites.

Responsibilities

  • Visual inspections of appliances for damage (frayed cables, cracked plugs, incorrect fuses, etc.)
  • Electrical safety tests including earth continuity, insulation resistance, and polarity checks.
  • Labelling appliances with pass/fail stickers and recording test results.
  • Maintaining detailed records and producing inspection reports for clients.
  • Minor repairs such as replacing plugs or fuses when necessary.
  • Client interaction to explain results and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • City and Guilds 2377 or equivalent but not essential as in house training will be provided.
  • Full UK clean driving licence.
