THE EMPLOYER IS: THE MUSIC YARD LTD We are seeking a compassionate, skilled and energetic Arts & Music Engagement Coordinator to support and deliver a range of music and performing-arts sessions. The ideal candidate will be a multi instrumentalist with music technology experience and have a proven history of working with children and adults with disabilities. This role requires someone calm, patient, reliable and able to adapt their approach to suit a variety of learning styles and abilities. Training, induction and safeguarding support will be provided. This role involves working with vulnerable groups and requires commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging music and arts sessions for children, young people and adults with disabilities.
  • Support participants in developing musical, creative and performance skills in a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Demonstrate and teach multiple instruments across a variety of genres and ability levels.
  • Use music-technology tools (e.g., Logic, GarageBand, recording equipment, PA systems) to enhance sessions.
  • Assist with creative development for performances, showcases and events.
  • Work collaboratively with The Music Yard team, parents/carers, and external partners.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, safeguarding documentation and session notes.
  • Help set up, operate and pack down equipment (instruments, PA, tech setup).
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas, projects and programmes.
  • Uphold The Music Yard’s values of inclusion, respect and creativity.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Experience working with children, young people and adults with disabilities.
  • Ability to play multiple musical instruments confidently.
  • Strong knowledge of music technology (recording, live sound, digital audio workstations, microphones, DI boxes, etc.).
  • Enhanced AccessNI check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to demonstrate a calm, patient manner and the ability to manage group dynamics sensitively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in community arts, performing-arts facilitation or inclusive music-making.
  • Experience in music, community arts, special needs education, or related fields.
  • Experience in live sound engineering or stage management.
  • Ability to contribute creatively to new projects and performances.
