THE EMPLOYER IS: KINGDOM YOUTH CLUB As a Youth Support Worker you will work under instruction from the Youth Support Worker in Charge and other qualified Youth Support Workers. You will be working directly with young people by assessing their needs and providing an agreed upon programme of activities designed to meet those needs, in line with the Youth Service Curriculum for Northern Ireland. You will be working towards objectives set out by the Youth Worker in Charge, ensuring all outcomes are achieved through implementation, monitoring and self-evaluation of agreed work programmes. This post will include midweek and weekend shifts. Kingdom Youth Club has been a core provider of youth services in the Mournes for over 25 years with experience of working effectively to meet the needs of young people from varied backgrounds, SEND young people are an important part of KYC. KYC has over 400 members, opens all year round and includes rural and urban areas of multiple deprivation. KYC is open every day, including project work and drop in and provides a range of targeted youth programmes. Young people are at the heart of KYC, they have input into the programmes and lead social action projects and events. KYC provides a fun, social experience in a safe, friendly youth led setting offering accredited courses, informal learning opportunities and diversionary activities to keep young people from anti-social behaviour through participation in affordable, enjoyable, activities chosen by the young people.
Responsibilities
- To work under instruction from the Youth Support Worker in Charge & other qualified Youth support Workers.
- Undertake training as provided.
- Undertake ACCESS NI certification.
- To perform any other duties as may reasonably be required.
- To support the qualified Youth Support Workers with the delivery of youth programmes to actively protect, uphold, foster and promote the basic aims and objectives of the Centre for young people as set out in the Centre’s Constitution.

- Knowledge of Child Protection regulations.
- Knowledge of people management issues.
- Knowledge of financial codes of conduct.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to connect with young people & understand their needs.
- Ability to work well within a staff team.
- Ability to remain focused in stressful situations.
- To perform the role in accordance with the club’s policies and procedures.
- Facilitation skills.
- Ability to embed a Quality Assurance process.
Desirable Skills
- Traits displayed including an understanding of confidentiality, confidence and empathy.
- Someone who can remain objective while making decisions.
- Someone with the ability to use their own initiative.
