THE EMPLOYER IS: JH & TH MCCLELLAND JH & TH McClelland require a Herdsperson to assist with their robotic dairy herd. This role is well suited to someone who is hardworking and genuinely cares for animals. The Herdsperson will ensure all cows and calves have access to food, water, and a clean environment. Using herd management software, they will monitor performance and identify any animals that may require medical attention. They will also be responsible for carrying out daily maintenance tasks on the milking robot. No specific experience is required, as full training will be provided for the right candidate. Additional hours may become available as experience is gained. There will also be opportunities to gain experience operating modern agricultural machinery and to assist with crop husbandry on the business’s arable and silage enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cow health, behaviour, and production data using herd management software.
• Identify cows requiring attention (e.g., lameness, mastitis, metabolic disorders).
• Assist with calving, calf care, and fresh cow monitoring.
• Ensure optimal robot performance, resolving minor technical issues or alerts.
• Maintain hygiene standards in milking areas and livestock housing.
