Residential Project Worker
Job description
Barnardo's sets very high standards for the work we do with the children, young people and families we support. The Leaving Care Service supports semi-independent living for care experienced young people aged 17 -21 years. The service is jointly commissioned by the Health and Social Care Trust and Supporting People. We use a strength-based approach to build resilience and facilitate better outcomes for children and young people. Our practice is guided by attachment and trauma-based models of intervention. You will be provided with a suite of training to support you in undertaking your role within the project.
Responsibilities
- Recording both in writing and within the electronic recording system appropriately, using processes and procedures e.g. handover and escalation, to achieve effective and safe communication
- Engaging positively with all young people who reside in the project carrying out agreed checks and opportunities to promote well-being
- Planning and delivering 1-1 sessions appropriate to the individual support plan
- Complete duties relevant to a residential service including health and safety tasks, day to day cleaning tasks and reporting of maintenance issues
- Liaising with other agencies and professionals
- Engage in professional development through active participation in supervision, training and other learning opportunities

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Demonstrable experience of working with children and young people (this does not have to be gained in formal employment).
- Experience of working within safeguarding policy and procedures
- Experience of record keeping

Desirable Skills
- Level 3 qualification or above in childcare/healthcare/social science related subject.
- Experience of working in a residential setting
Further Information
£26,142.40 - £29,755.44 per annum pro rata. Residential Project Worker hours of work are primarily at evenings, weekends and sleepovers. There are also some daytime hours to facilitate some unit cover, training, supervision and attendance at team meetings. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced Access NI with Child and Adult Barred List Check, and register with NISCC.
