Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: OH PAPI LTD The Kitchen assistant will be supporting the kitchen team in preparing fresh, high-quality ingredients and maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient workspace. This role helps ensure that every burrito, bowl, and taco meets OH Papi’s standards for taste, freshness, and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Menu Support: Assist chefs and cooks with the preparation of burritos, fajitas, bowls, tacos, and sides to maintain smooth service during busy periods.
- Recipe Accuracy: Follow detailed prep sheets and portioning guides to ensure consistency in taste, appearance, and portion size across all OH Papi locations.
- Adhere strictly to OH Papi’s food safety policies and HACCP procedures.
- Cleanliness: Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all food preparation and storage areas, ensuring compliance with EHO standards.
- Allergen Awareness: Understand allergen procedures and labeling to prevent cross-contamination, in line with OH Papi’s Allergen Matrix and customer information boards.
- Temperature Control: Accurately monitor and record food temperatures during storage, cooking, and holding.
- Safely operate kitchen tools and equipment (knives, slicers, blenders, rice cookers, fryers, etc.), ensuring correct cleaning and maintenance.
- Stock Rotation: Apply FIFO (First In, First Out) principles when handling deliveries and restocking storage areas.
- Dishwashing and Cleaning: Perform dishwashing, sanitizing, and general cleaning duties to maintain a hygienic and organized workspace.
- Maintenance Reporting: Identify and report any equipment faults or maintenance needs promptly.
- Waste Reduction: Monitor ingredient usage and minimize waste through careful handling and storage practices.

- Responsibility: Take ownership of daily prep lists, cleaning schedules, and closing checklists.

- Product Knowledge: Develop an understanding of OH Papi’s menu, ingredients, and flavour profiles to support consistency and brand quality.
- Presentation: Ensure all prepared items meet OH Papi’s presentation and freshness standards before service.
- Sustainability: Support the brand’s commitment to sustainability by reducing food waste, conserving resources, and recycling properly.
