Environmental Support Worker
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: NEIGHBOURHOOD MANAGEMENT TEAM LTD. Undertake general environmental improvement works in all weather conditions using a diverse range of equipment in the effective delivery of environmental improvement schemes and initiatives within the Triax area. Raise awareness of the importance of the physical environment as a contributor to the creation of a cleaner, safer more welcoming community through work with residents, community groups, schools, and others in the Triax area. Environmental improvement works will be provided to all areas within the Triax area.
Responsibilities
- To undertake cleansing, de-littering, graffiti removal, gardening, environmental improvement duties as directed. This may include working individually or as part of a team using manual and or mechanical equipment.
- Undertake work with nominated officer and residents to identify, develop and implement environmental improvement schemes across the Triax area.
- Undertake environmental improvement schemes and above in accordance with allocated work schedules. Disposing of waste materials at designated disposal points.
- Ensure that environmental operations, including use of equipment are carried out in full consideration of health & safety obligations, safe systems of work, operating procedures, reporting all incidents and accidents to the supervisor.
- Complete and maintain records with regard to work patterns, customer complaints, service issues, environmental problems, fly tipping, graffiti etc reporting to nominated officer as appropriate. Completion and return of accident/incidents report.
- Carry out daily equipment checks reporting defects to the nominated officer. Undertake daily maintenance and cleansing of equipment.
- Undertake as directed, general labouring/cleansing duties to include washing of streets, environmental activities, graffiti removal, ice/snow clearing, weed clearing etc.
- Assist, advise and deal with enquiries/complaints from the public, in the delivery of services in a polite, courteous and professional manner. Report all complaints/services enquiries to nominated officer and distribute customer information leaflets.
- Act with due care for the health & safety of self, other employees and the public and comply with any guidelines set down.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Experience in allotment setting & maintenance duties.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Good time keeping.
Desirable Skills
- Full driving licence.
- Experience and the ability to use lawn mower and strimmers.
- Flexibility, available to work weekends and evenings when needed.
