Trainee Funeral Arranger / Administrator
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: O'NEILL'S FUNERAL DIRECTORS LTD We are seeking a dedicated Trainee Funeral Arranger/Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding families through the funeral process, providing support during a difficult time, and ensuring that all arrangements are handled with the utmost professionalism and care. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. As a Trainee Funeral Arranger/Administrator, you will meet with families to record information to make the appropriate funeral arrangements. This will include co-ordinating with local churches, cemeteries and crematoria. There is relevant administration to be complied, completed and submitted for the funeral service venue and committal venue. There are further administrative duties required to complete required documentation such as death registration, crematorium or burial requirements, GDPR-compliant record keeping. You will receive the following: - A comprehensive induction and task-specific training. - Direct supervision and mentoring by experienced team members. - Regular progress reviews and feedback sessions. - Additional support or external training where required to ensure competence and confidence in each skill area.
Responsibilities
- Funeral Arrangement Procedures - Learning how to arrange funeral services, including booking venues, liaising with clergy/celebrants, ordering flowers, printing materials, and managing other service details.
- Client Care and Bereavement Support Processes - Developing sensitivity and professionalism in handling initial client enquiries, conducting arrangement meetings, and providing compassionate guidance throughout the funeral planning process.
- Funeral Documentation and Legal Administration - Gaining knowledge of required documentation such as death certificates, cremation or burial permits, GDPR-compliant record-keeping and industry regulations.
- Funeral Management Software and Office Systems - Learning to use digital systems for scheduling, invoicing, client records, and communication with suppliers and service providers.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Good communication skills.
- Good written and verbal English for health & safety purposes.
- Confidence with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook).
