Medical Receptionist


Job description

We are recruiting for a Medical Receptionist. Responsible for reception and administration within the Medical Practice.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients in person and on telephone, making, cancelling appointments.
  • Update patients computer records as directed.
  • Liaising with various agencies where required to provide repeat prescriptions when authorised.
  • Coordinate patient appointments, hospital letters etc with staff members to ensure procedures are effective.
  • Ordering ambulances and booking interpreting services and secondary care appointments as directed by the GP.
  • Process incoming & outgoing mail.
  • Other administrative & customer care duties as directed by the surgery management.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 2 GCSEs grade A-C including Maths & English or equivalent
  • Ability to work alone and in a team
  • To demonstrate the ability to multi task
  • Fully computer literate including knowledge of Microsoft Word

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working with a medical computer system or equivalent.
  • Reception experience in a Hospital/ Health Centre/ GP environment.
  • Face to face experience of working with the general public.

All staff must comply with the no smoking (including vaping) Policy, & comply with the practice dress code. £12.31 per hour rising after probational period On-site parking Flexible to cover sickness & holidays
