Job description

To assist in the design and delivery of high-quality Early Years Childcare Services and associated parental support programmes. To provide this service to the children of Scoil na Fuiseoige in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures and overall ethos of the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • To assist in the design and delivery of high-quality Early Years Childcare Services and associated parental support programmes.
  • To provide the Early Years Childcare Services and associated parental support programmes in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures and overall ethos of the organisation.
  • To take direction from, and to support, the Childcare Supervisor, in the delivery of the Childcare Services and give input to the continuous development of the quality and range of service delivery.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A working knowledge of Irish.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a Childcare related area or working towards it.
  • An understanding of maintaining and working with confidential information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels from children, parents and other professionals.
  • Demonstrable team working skills, with the ability to take the initiative and to work flexibly in order to deliver the service.
  • Meet the physical requirements of the post in terms of lifting children and moving and lifting equipment as required for service delivery.
  • A commitment to the ethos of Scoil na Fuiseoige and genuine commitment to working with children to provide a caring and professional service.

Desirable Skills

  • A minimum of 1 year in a childcare delivery capacity.
  • Knowledge and experience of safeguarding within an early year setting.

The aim of Scoil na Fuiseoige is to provide a facility for the cultural, recreational and educational needs of the community of the Colin area, and particularly for the Irish language community. We provide and promote: high quality early years provision; educational and social activities for children from birth to 15 years; education and support programmes for parents and individuals from the community; social economy activity within the building; cultural activities through dance, drama and music; a drop-in facility and a gateway to other local services; opening up the Irish Language and Culture to all sections of the community and to promote equal participation.
