THE EMPLOYER IS: ANCHOR ENGINEERING LIMITED We're seeking a motivated Sales Representative to join our growing team and drive revenue growth through relationship-based selling of bearings and power transmission products to industrial and manufacturing customers. This role combines account management of existing customers with new business development in targeted sectors. You'll be selling essential products that keep businesses running - bearings, belts, chains, couplings, and related power transmission components - to maintenance managers, engineers, and purchasing departments across diverse industries.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow relationships with assigned customer accounts.
  • Conduct regular account reviews to identify additional needs and opportunities.
  • Increase average order values through cross-selling and upselling complementary products.
  • Proactively contact customers with product recommendations based on usage patterns.
  • Schedule on-site visits to understand customer operations and build relationships.
  • Respond quickly to customer inquiries and provide technical product guidance.
  • Resolve customer issues and ensure high satisfaction levels.
  • Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate bearing and power transmission solutions.
  • Provide technical specifications, load calculations, and product selection guidance.
  • Prepare detailed quotations with accurate pricing and delivery information.
  • Collaborate with suppliers for special orders or technical clarifications.
  • Educate customers on product features, benefits, and proper maintenance.
  • Identify and target new customers in assigned territory or industry sectors.
  • Research prospects in food processing, manufacturing, HVAC, packaging, and other industrial sectors.
  • Make cold calls, conduct email outreach, and perform field visits.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
  • Build pipeline of qualified opportunities in CRM system.
  • Penetrate new industry sectors with high potential for bearing and power transmission needs.
  • Develop relationships with maintenance contractors, OEMs, and machine builders.
  • Create proposals for becoming preferred supplier to new accounts.
  • Identify partnership opportunities with complementary service providers.
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM system (customer interactions, opportunities, quotes).
  • Prepare sales forecasts and activity reports.
  • Track competitor activity and market trends.
  • Update product knowledge through manufacturer training and technical resources.
  • Process orders accurately and coordinate with operations team for fulfilment.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and support collection efforts when needed.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Sales Experience: Minimum 2 years in B2B sales, preferably in industrial products or distribution.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing, maintenance, or industrial operations (or strong willingness to learn).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Organisation: Strong time management and ability to prioritise multiple accounts.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office, comfortable learning CRM systems.
  • Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence (for customer visits).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience selling bearings, power transmission products, or industrial supplies.
  • Technical background or mechanical aptitude.
  • Engineering qualification or trade background (mechanical, maintenance, etc.)
  • Existing relationships in manufacturing or industrial maintenance sectors.
  • Experience with consultative/solution-based selling approaches.
  • Knowledge of bearing specifications, selection criteria, and applications.
