Job description

New Haven is a warm, homely 24-hour supported living service based in a shared house in Cookstown. We support five adults aged 18-60 who are living with complex mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and high-functioning autism. Our role is to help residents develop daily living skills, build healthy routines and relationships, and grow their confidence to live as independently as possible within the community. Referrals come from the Community Mental Health Team and local hospitals, and each resident receives person-centred support tailored to their needs. This is sleeping duty and as Night Cover your role will be the main point of contact in case of emergencies, you will have sole responsibility for the Scheme between the hours of 10pm to 8am, this will include providing care and support to Service Users, security of the building and reacting to any health and safety issues that may occur.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a trusting and professional relationship with Service Users and act in a supportive and empathetic manner towards them.
• Contribute towards a harmonious and therapeutic environment
• Support Service Users to manage their physical health, mental health and wellbeing through the development and implementation of an individual support plan.
• Involve Service Users in all aspects of decision making and be sensitive to difficulties encountered by Service Users.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• To be flexible during night time hours for on call purposes.
• Experience of supporting an individual in a caring field as a paid employee, volunteer or carer
