Job description

Male Personal Assistant required to support a gentleman living independently. We are seeking a reliable, compassionate and motivated Male Personal Assistant to support a gentleman who is a wheelchair user, living independently at home and requiring some extra support to maintain an active and fulfilling lifestyle. Due to the personal nature of the role, applications are invited from male applicants only (this is a genuine occupational requirement). This post is for Male applicants only as it is a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with Article 10(2) (b) (i) of the Sex Discrimination (NI) Order 1976 (as amended). This is a meaningful and rewarding role for someone who views care and support as a vocation and genuinely wants to make a positive difference to an individual and their family. The Personal Assistant will provide practical, personal and social support, enabling the gentleman to live independently and remain actively involved in his community. Support will occasionally include personal care, alongside a varied range of activities.

Responsibilities

  • Attending medical and therapy appointments
  • Social activities including bowling and community outings
  • Assistance with domestic tasks including shopping
  • Support during gym sessions and fitness activities
  • Accompanying and assisting with volunteering at a food bank and church
  • Support with dog-related activities (applicant must be comfortable around dogs)
  • Occasional personal care and mobility support

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Confident driving the gentleman’s vehicle and hold a full driving licence

Further Information

Potentially up to 10 hours per week. Example shift: Monday - Friday 9:30am to 2:30pm. This gentleman enjoys football, rugby, motorbikes, and an active lifestyle. A good sense of humour, patience, and willingness to engage are highly valued.
