Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: AM CONSULTING ENGINEERS This position is working within in a fast-paced engineering consultancy. As an Office Administrator, you will provide a broad range of office and project support, gaining practical exposure to professional administrative processes in an engineering context. This role will include general office tasks, document management, customer service and IT and Digital Skills use. All training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Office Administration: Performing general office tasks, including filing, record-keeping, scheduling, restocking supplies, making arrangements for meetings and events, and providing day-to-day administrative support to office and project teams.
- Document Management & ISO Compliance: Organising, managing, and maintaining company documents in line with ISO standards and internal procedures, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and regulatory compliance.
- Tender Preparation & Project Support: Assisting in the preparation of tenders and project summaries and case studies.
- Reception & Customer Service: greeting clients/visitors, and providing professional front-of-office support.
- Time Management: Prioritising tasks effectively, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple responsibilities in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Working closely with colleagues across different teams, enhancing skills in collaboration, coordination, and professional interaction.
- IT & Digital Skills: Using office software and digital tools to complete administrative, document, and communication tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Undertaking ad hoc administrative tasks to support overall business operations.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in an administrative or office support role.
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently with initiative, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Good written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
Desirable Skills
- Willingness to learn, adapt and progress within the company.
- Experience working in an Engineering Consultancy or professional services environment.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and compliance procedures.
- Exposure to tender preparation and project support processes.
- Knowledge of document management systems and electronic filing protocols.
- Basic marketing or communications support experience.
- Experience using collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, ACC Autodesk, or similar).
