Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: WARWICK ENGINEERING (NI) LTD The Yard Person will support the day-to-day operations of Warwick Engineering (NI) Ltd by ensuring efficient material handling, yard organisation, and assisting the fabrication team. This role involves working outdoors, operating equipment, and maintaining a safe and organized environment.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload steel, metalwork, and other materials from delivery trucks.
- Move raw materials and finished products around the yard using forklifts, cranes, or other equipment.
- Check incoming deliveries against purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate stock records and report shortages or damages.
- Keep the yard clean, safe, and well-organized.
- Ensure materials are stored correctly to prevent damage and allow easy access.
- Deliver materials to fabrication bays as required.
- Assist with cutting, prepping, or minor fabrication tasks if trained.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage.
- Conduct routine checks for hazards and report issues promptly.
- Perform basic checks and maintenance on yard equipment (forklifts, cranes).
- Report faults or arrange servicing when needed.
- Sort and dispose of scrap metal and other waste responsibly.
- Coordinate recycling where applicable.
- Assist with loading finished products onto transport vehicles.
- Secure loads properly for transit.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills
- Forklift license (desirable but training can be provided).
