Job description

This is a great opportunity to join the team at Rascals Summer Meadows in a diverse role that greatly supports the Cook in the kitchen, whilst also having the opportunity to work in the rooms with the children.

Responsibilities

• To assist the cook in the daily running of the kitchen.
• To cover the cooks absence from the nursery.
• To provide the children with a nutritious, balanced and varied diet.
• To ensure the kitchen is clean and at a high level of hygiene.
• To be aware of special requirements and allergies of children within Rascals and be responsible for catering for their needs.
• To support the childcare team in the delivery of programmes for children attending the nursery.
• To be involved in working as a team, assisting in the day to day running of a unit.
• To look after the basic needs of all children at the nursery.
• To provide a warm, secure relationship with the children which will encourage emotional and social growth and self-expression.
• To work in partnership with colleagues and be a valued team member within in the nursery.
• To undertake any other relevant duties considered appropriate by the Nursery Manager.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Level 2 Food Safety in Catering
• A good level of understanding of nutritional values of food.
• Experience working in a kitchen setting.
• A good level of understanding of children's individual needs.

Desirable Skills

• Ability to cater for large numbers of children.
• Knowledge of operational practice in use of HACCP and COSHH
