Job description

The person appointed will contribute to the creation of a homely, safe and enabling environment, permitting the maximum feasible development of each resident and to promote their dignity, independence and individuality. Availability to work long days and weekends on a rota basis is essential.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the nurse in charge each shift and responsible for the safety and well-being of each resident in your care.
• Maintain NISCC registration and comply with standards.
• Act as keyworker for designated residents.
• Attend staff meetings and mandatory training as required; completion of computerised records.
• Ensure beds are clean and comfortable. Changing bed linen and taking soiled linen to laundry.
• Serve meals and assist residents to eat and drink as required.
• Observing physical well-being and reporting anything untoward to the Nurse-in-Charge.
• Additional personal care including residents nails, hair, showering and shaving, etc.
• Assisting the residents to and from bed.
• Washing, dressing and personal hygiene, toileting residents.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months Dementia Nursing Care experience in either nursing, residential or community care setting preferred.
