Care Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: TOWN AND COUNTRY CARE HOMES LTD To maximise the capacity of Town & Country Care Homes Ltd to perform effectively in the provision of a high caring service to our residents. The Care Assistant is part of the Town & Country Care Homes Ltd Staff Team, whose function is to attend to and meet the personal needs of residents under the direction and supervision of senior staff. This job description will be subject to review from time to time. Any amendments will be made in consultation with the post holder. Copies of the Company’s Employment Handbook are available from the Head of Support Services.
Responsibilities
- To provide where appropriate personal assistance to residents such as bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, shaving, washing, toileting, feeding, hand and foot care.
- To ensure the privacy, dignity and rights of residents are respected at all times.
- Helping residents achieve social and self-help skills in table etiquette.
- Promotion of continence and toilet training.
- Accompanying residents where appropriate to locations outside the home.
- Care of resident’s personal possessions including tidying drawers and wardrobes.
- Bed making and sorting laundry.
- Reporting to Nurse-in-Charge of untoward incidents e.g. falls, skin abnormalities, bruises, accidents, complaints etc and contributing to the maintenance of same within the established procedures.
- Helping in the provision of individual and group programmes of care.
- To be available to listen and talk to residents.
- Participation in group and leisure activities organized for residents.
- Work as part of a team providing a 24-hour continuity service to all residents.
- Attend and contribute to reviews of residents when requested by senior staff.
- Complete records accurately.
- Participate in in-house training courses, staff meetings etc.
- Participate in a programme of formal supervision and appraisals.
- Work within the rota system and duty rota including day and night duties as required.
- Ensure that all policies and procedures of Town & Country Care Homes Ltd are strictly adhered to at all times.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Flexibility - Someone who is prepared to carry out any similar or related tasks that do not fall within the duties outlined.
- Confidentiality - Someone who can maintain confidentiality with respect for the requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in a caring role.

Location: Daisyhill Private Nursing Home. The Employer is: TOWN AND COUNTRY CARE HOMES LTD JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
