MJ’s Menswear Omagh is preparing to open, and we’re looking for a confident, sales driven Assistant Manager to help launch and grow our newest store. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on the shop floor, loves closing sales, and wants a clear pathway to becoming Store Manager within 9 to 18 months. If you’re passionate about retail, motivated by results, and ready to take ownership of key store operations, we’d love to hear from you. As Assistant Manager, you’ll play a hands on role in driving sales, delivering exceptional customer service, and supporting the day to day running of the store. You’ll also take responsibility for organising and managing weekly suit hires and wedding parties, ensuring every customer receives a smooth, professional experience. You’ll work closely with the owner to build a strong team culture and establish high standards from day one. Key Responsibilities. Suit Hire & Wedding Management. Organise and manage weekly suit hire bookings.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales on the shop floor and confidently close customer purchases.
- Deliver excellent customer service and personalised styling advice.
- Organise and manage weekly suit hire bookings and wedding parties.
- Coordinate fittings, measurements, collections, and returns.
- Support staff training, motivation, and daily supervision.
- Handle stock management, deliveries, and merchandising.
- Manage customer queries, exchanges, and problem solving.
- Assist with cash handling, admin, and daily store operations.
- Step up to cover Store Manager duties when required.
- Sales & Customer Experience.
- Lead from the front on the shop floor, actively selling and closing sales. Deliver expert product knowledge and personalised styling advice.
- Support the team in achieving daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets Create a welcoming, professional environment that encourages repeat business.
- Manage wedding party appointments and ensure a seamless experience.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all hire garments are prepared to standard.
- Handle customer queries, exchanges, and problem solving.
- Carry out cash handling and basic admin duties.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Strong sales ability and confidence in closing sales.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to organise and manage suit hires and wedding parties.
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support staff.
- Good problem solving and decision making abilities.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail, especially with fittings and measurement.
- Ability to work in a fast paced retail environment.
- Basic admin, cash handling, and computer skills.
Desirable Skills
- Reliability, professionalism, and a proactive attitude.
- Previous retail experience is desirable in menswear or fashion.
- Experience with suit hire or formalwear is desirable but not essential.

Assistant Manager. Progression to Store Manager. Full time, Competitive Salary, Omagh. Within 9 to 18 months, you’ll gradually take on: Full store operations and reporting. Staff scheduling and performance management. Buying input and stock planning. Leadership of seasonal campaigns and key trading events. Successful progression leads to promotion to Store Manager.
