Technician Assessor - Electrical


Job description

The College is seeking applications for a Technician Assessor - Electrical, based at our Strabane Campus. The Technician Assessor will be responsible for supporting learner development and achievement by providing high quality professional and technical training and guidance to participants on the Electrical apprenticeship programme. The Technician Assessor will observe and assess course participants underpinning knowledge in relation to work based qualifications across the electrical area. Responsibilities

  • Carry out work-based assessments of participants on apprenticeship programmes.
  • Support lecturing staff before and during lessons.
  • To work safely, in accordance with health and safety legislation, guidelines and college policies and procedures. Ensuring that safe practice is part of normal day to day operations in the area.
  • Assist in the implementation of College procurement policies and processes for equipment, materials and goods, up to £5,000 and £30,000 as required.
  • Provide technical support to curriculum teams during skill building competitions and events.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have at least a Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation.
  • Hold or be in the process of completing a recognised assessor qualification, e.g. D32/33, A1/A2 Assessors, TAQA Award or equivalent OR Give a commitment to undertake a recognised assessor qualification within 1 year of commencement of employment.
  • Have at least 3 years experience in the area of Electrical Installation.
  • Have a current driving licence and access to a car Applicants with a disability who have been prevented from obtaining a driving licence due to their disability (as defined by the DDA 1995) are eligible to apply.

Desirable Skills

  • Have experience of teaching and/or training.
