Building Safety Officer


Job description

To assist the Building Safety Manager in ensuring the NIHE’s Higher Risk Residential Buildings (HRRB’s), within the scope of legislation, are compliantly managed and maintained safely and evidenced through the creation and continued management of building safety cases.

Responsibilities

  • To act as a named Building Safety Officer reporting to a Building Safety Manager with an assigned portfolio of Higher Risk Residential Buildings (HRRBs).
  • To assist the Building Safety Manager in providing professional advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders on Building Safety matters when required.
  • To foster collaborative working arrangements across all Directorates to ensure the work of Building Safety is coordinated and integrated within the Housing Executive.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Possess a Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a building/construction or health and safety related discipline PLUS 2 years relevant experience working in a building/construction etc.
  • OR BTEC Higher or equivalent Level 5 qualification in a Building/Construction or health and safety related discipline PLUS 3 years’ relevant experience working within a Building/Construction or health and safety related function.
  • OR Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development or experiential learning PLUS a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience working within a Building/Construction or health and safety related function.
