Job description
Production Operative to join our production team. Job will involve cutting, bonding, welding, and assembling a variety of parts from specification using a variety of materials, ensuring quality and safety standards are met using hand tools and machinery like Router/Mitre saws/Laser cutter/Heat formers etc. Job requires being able to interpret technical drawings, experience (preferable but not essential), attention to detail and ability to work in a a safe, collaborative environment. Responsibilities
- Operate a 3 -axis CNC Router within specified tolerances, following machine programs, work instructions and customer drawings.
- Create toolpaths, load CCN programs and execute precision cutting of materials.
- Operate Trotec laser cutting and engraving equipment, including software setup and hand-finishing parts.
- Fabricate signage using bonding, heat bending, and letter bending machinery.
- Manufacture nova Aluminium Sign Systems for trade customers.
- Carry out quality control checks and document tolerance compliance.
- Identify and resolve minor machine faults or tooling issues.
- Ensure finished products meet high-quality standards and correctly packaged for transport.
- Operate a forklift truck to move and pick store.
- Perform manual handling and lifting of materials.
- Complete production and stock documentation accurately, including sales order paperwork.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and cleaning and report faults as required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment at all times.
- Follow all Health, Safety and Environmental procedures using reporting tools such as the Brightsafe app.
- Communicate safety and operational issues with management and H&S representatives.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting other departments when required, including warehouse duties, loading/unloading vehicles and stocktaking.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Basic machining and fabrication skills using hand tools and machinery.
- Strong awareness of health & safety in a workshop environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Physically capable of manual handling duties.
- Willingness to learn new processes and equipment.
- Flexible attitude to work tasks and departmental requirements.
- GCSE/NVQ Maths & English required.
Desirable Skills
- Experience operative CNC machinery or laser cutting equipment.
- Background in sign-making, fabrication, metalwork, joinery or assembly.
- Basic knowledge of machine software or CNC programming.
- Forklift truck experience or licence.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
