THE EMPLOYER IS: ENTERPRISE NORTH WEST We are seeking a proactive and dependable Facilities Assistant to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will provide essential support to the caretaker in maintaining our three property sites - North West Business Complex, Skeoge, 104 Ebrington, Ebrington Square and The PrintWorks, Springtown within the Derry City area. As part of this role, you will be ensuring that our workspaces remain safe, welcoming, and operational for our diverse range of tenant businesses and organisations. This is a mobile role that requires a "can-do" attitude, a focus on safety, and the ability to represent our organisation’s values while interacting with tenants and the public.

Responsibilities

  • General Maintenance: Assisting the caretaker with minor repairs, painting, decorating, and basic maintenance tasks to keep our facilities in top condition.
  • Site Safety & Compliance: Conducting regular health and safety checks, including fire alarm testing.
  • Grounds & Presentation: Ensuring all three sites are clean and presentable by performing light cleaning duties, waste management, and basic grounds maintenance.
  • Logistical Support: Assisting with the setup and breakdown of rooms for events and moving furniture or deliveries between sites as required.
  • Security: Supporting the opening and closing procedures of buildings, ensuring all sites are secure at the end of the working day.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • The ideal candidate should possess a practical mindset and the ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: A friendly and professional manner when dealing with staff, contractors, and tenants or visitors who use our facilities.
  • Time Management: The ability to prioritise tasks effectively to ensure deadlines and maintenance schedules are met.
  • The role involves manual labour, including lifting, carrying equipment, and being on your feet for extended periods.
  • Full UK Driving Licence: Due to the requirement to travel frequently between our three sites across the Derry City area, a valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in providing practical handyperson services with a baseline understanding of general building maintenance and an understanding of workplace safety.
