Clinical Trials Pharmacist


Job description

In order to meet the overall mission of the Trust the post holder will: Assist the Clinical Trials and Procurement Pharmacist in managing and developing the Pharmacy Clinical Trails services across SET. Undertake clinical trial set-up and provide continued support for the running and maintenance of current trial activity. Deliver a safe, efficient and cost-effective Pharmacy Clinical Trial Service through the provision of education and training, procedures, policies and guidelines. Assist with the delivery of the day-to-day running of the clinical trials dispensing service and to ensure that clinical trials are supplied and monitored according to agreed governance framework and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Maintain and enhance effective working partnership with clinical trial partners, site investigators, research personnel, the Research Office, and other support services to provide a comprehensive process for delivering the Pharmacy Clinical Trial Service.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise effectively with relevant parties regarding the initiation, maintenance and closure of clinical trials, taking into account available Pharmacy resources to support research and development activities.
  • Write, review, approve and update pharmacy clinical trial information sheets and procedures, and prepare pharmacy clinical trial folders.
  • Prepare accountability logs and dose preparation worksheets for any new clinical trial regimens being set-up and check any pharmacy specific relevant paperwork before a trial opens for recruitment as necessary.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years' post registration experience of which 18 months (by 31 March 2026).
  • MPharm or equivalent.
  • Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland or eligible for membership.
  • Completed and passed a recognised vocational training programme and/or have a post graduate certificate in an area of pharmacy relevant to this post will allow post holder to commence as band 7.
  • OR: To progress to band 7 candidates must complete and pass a recognised vocational training programme and/or have a postgraduate certificate in an area of pharmacy relevant to this post within 12 months of appointment.
  • Those submitting FP2 in 2026 are eligible to apply for this post and will progress to band 7 on completion.
  • Those submitting original FP pathway in next 12 months are eligible to apply for this post and will progress to band 7 on completion.
  • Able to attend the Ulster Pharmacy within 45minutes if called to attend whilst on call.
