MDM & Cancer Access Team Leader Band 5


Job description

The post holder will be responsible for the leadership and management of the MCAT Administration staff. The post holder will work closely with the Assistant Service Manager to ensure the safe and effective operation of the Trust’s Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) and Multi-Disciplinary Meetings (MDMs). They will ensure the MDMs are serviced and run smoothly to ensure the timely provision of care for patients by ensuring at times of both planned and unplanned leave, there are contingency cover provisions of the MDMs by the MDM Co-ordinator / Patient Navigator Team. Responsibilities

  • Management of the MDM Co-ordinator / Patient Navigator Team and Assistant Cancer Pathway Co-ordinator
  • Responsible for inducting new staff and temporary staff, ensuring they are fully trained and competent, and that they have a full understanding of their duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure MDMs are organised and facilitated by the MDM Co-ordinator team, providing cover if necessary in unprecedented circumstances

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Evidence of experience in collation, analysis, and presentation of health and/or social care information
  • Experience of hospital procedures
  • Experience of hospital systems including Encompass
  • Experience of training staff
  • A University degree or equivalent professional qualification, plus one year’s experience as a Band 4 within the Health and Personal Social Services
  • Or 3 years’ Administrative experience within a Health Service setting which must include 2 years’ experience at Band 4
  • A comprehensive knowledge and experience of Health Records systems (including PAS), the Integrated Elective Access Protocol (IEAP) and relevant legislation
  • Have a proven record of achievement in their current post and can demonstrate leadership skills
  • Have the ability to set and work to agreed objectives
  • Knowledge and experience of Health Service work policies, procedures and practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of specialised functional terms related to the Cancer Access Targets

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Cancer Pathways
  • Experience of HSC systems and processes
