Trainee Support Worker
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: ASPACE2 LEARNING SUPPORT The Trainee Support Worker at Aspace2 assists in providing comprehensive support to trainees with learning disabilities and mental health needs. The role is focused on helping trainees develop independence and essential life skills through structured learning pathways. You will work closely with the team to ensure trainees are engaged in activities that help them grow, learn, and prepare for future employment or independent living.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily emotional, physical, and practical needs of trainees.
- Help deliver individual and group programmes in areas such as literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
- Support the delivery of creative and vocational activities, including arts, crafts, gardening, or hospitality tasks.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation regarding trainee progress and daily activities.

- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure the smooth running of shifts and activities.
- Participate in personal development and training opportunities to improve support skills.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A basic understanding of, or interest in, supporting individuals with mental health needs or learning disabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with trainees and staff.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team environment.
- Basic computer literacy to complete daily records and reports.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- A full, valid driving licence and access to personal transport (unless an alternative solution for a disability is provided).
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in a care or support setting (paid or voluntary).
- Experience in creative arts, gardening, or hospitality.
- Knowledge of and respect for diversity and inclusion principles.

The Employer is: ASPACE2 LEARNING SUPPORT JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information - Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. - Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. - Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
