Job description

To assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse in the smooth and effective management of the ward. To provide leadership and direction for staff within the ward/department to promote the delivery of safe and effective care. In the absence of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to be responsible for the effective management of the ward. To support the professional development of nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
• Develop good interpersonal relationships with patients, relatives and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A Level 1 Registered Nurse (Adult) on the live NMC Register.
• 2 years post registration experience caring for surgical patients within an Acute setting.
