Job description

New Haven is a warm, homely 24-hour supported living service based in a shared house in Cookstown. We support five adults aged 18-60 who are living with complex mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and high-functioning autism. Our role is to help residents develop daily living skills, build healthy routines and relationships, and grow their confidence to live as independently as possible within the community. Referrals come from the Community Mental Health Team and local hospitals, and each resident receives person-centred support tailored to their needs. As Night Cover you will be a key part of a supportive and compassionate team, helping to ensure a safe calm and reassuring environment throughout the night.

Responsibilities

• Being a reassuring presence overnight and offering advice, guidance or support to service users if needed.
• Acting as the main point of contact during the night and responding calming to any emergencies or concerns.
• Completing overnight checks and checklists to help maintain a safe and -well run service
• Supporting with medication where required in line with policies and training.
• Carrying out light, general tidying to help ensure a comfortable and welcoming environment.
• Ensuring the building remains safe and secure throughout the night
• Recording relevant information and contributing to clear handovers for the day team

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Experience of supporting an individual in a caring field as a paid employee, volunteer or carer

Desirable Skills

• An interest in working with people within a care environment.
