Field Support Technician
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: ISDM SOLUTIONS The Field Support Technician role is an entry-level position. The purpose of the role is to support ISDM’s project delivery team with the preparation, installation, and setup of audiovisual and collaboration equipment for customer projects. The successful participant will work under the supervision of experienced engineers and project managers, assisting with on-site support tasks, equipment preparation, and general project assistance. Full training and ongoing support will be provided throughout the placement. Key duties will include assisting with preparing equipment and materials, supporting engineers on customer sites, helping with basic installation tasks such as cable management and equipment setup, and ensuring work areas are kept safe and organised. The participant will also support simple equipment testing using provided checklists and help record project updates and progress for the project team. The role will provide the participant with hands-on experience in a professional field-based environment, while developing transferable workplace skills such as teamwork, communication, time management, health and safety awareness, and customer service. The Field Support Technician will be expected to act professionally at all times and represent ISDM positively when working on customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Support the project team and engineers during on-site installations by assisting with equipment setup and preparation.
- Help prepare work areas, tools, and materials to ensure installations run smoothly.
- Assist with unpacking, labelling, and organising equipment and installation materials.
- Support basic installation tasks such as cable management and equipment positioning under supervision.
- Help with simple testing and checks of installed equipment using provided instructions and checklists.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment and follow all health and safety guidance.
- Communicate progress, issues, or concerns to the Project Manager or supervising engineer.
- Assist with recording project updates, materials used, and completion of tasks.
- Support stock checks, equipment preparation, and kit assembly when required.
- Represent the company professionally at all times when working on customer sites.
