Job description
The post holder will be aligned to the Outreach Team and work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary group across the Children’s Disability Service to lead and co-ordinate the delivery of flexible, timely, responsive community based supports, interventions and early help to our service users, who are children and young people with learning disability or complex health and/or behavioural needs and their families. The post holder will engage with service users, relevant professionals and community partners to build capacity and promote the enhancement of early intervention / prevention supports. Responsibilities
- Maintain NISCC registration and ensure personal accountability in accordance with the NISCC code of practice.
- Participate in the supervision and appraisal process to achieve the required practice standards and identify training needs on an annual basis to ensure personal and professional development in accordance with NISCC or NMC requirements.
- Be accountable to direct line manager and Team Leader, and to report and escalate, incidents, events, risks and developments as appropriate.
- Demonstrate the relevant knowledge, skills, values and resilience to undertake the role.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Registered Learning Disability Nurse, on the live NMC register.
- Have the equivalent of at least 18 months full-time post registration nursing experience working with children, young people or adults with learning disability or complex health and/or behavioural needs.
- By date of appointment have be listed on the NMC register and maintain registration throughout employment.
- Ability to work flexible hours at evenings and weekends will be a requirement of the post.
- Will be required to work with children and young people across the Children’s Disability Teams.
- Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car and able to drive Trust vehicles upon appointment.
Desirable Skills
- Experience of working with individuals with communication difficulties including Makaton, PECS, social stories.
- Currently have My Safety Intervention Training accreditation.
- Evidence of knowledge of the Positive Behaviour Support Model.
- Other training relevant to children, young people or adults with learning disability or complex health and/or behavioural needs.
- An understanding of child development.
